With fast-evolving software, you have to stay on top of training, so we provide that on a consistent basis. TalentLMS allows us to do that across the world on any timetable.
Global Shop Solutions is an ERP software, which stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. We primarily work with small to medium-sized manufacturers, and we provide the software that helps them run their business, all the way from taking a quote to taking a cash receipt. Training is really foundational to what we do here. We want to make sure that our end users know how to use the software. They need to know how our software works so they can work hand in hand with our onsite consultants to be able to configure the software that meets their needs.
There were several things that went into choosing TalentLMS. One that was particularly appealing to me was that I could have a free trial. So I could test it out and start showing people here, so I could get buy-in from the upper management that we also needed branches, because I knew eventually that we would want to offer this LMS to our customers once we got our catalog built out, and ease of use, it was very simple. The layout was nice, could customize it however we wanted.
Before TalentLMS, our training was primarily manual and all in a big white binder. So my first goal when I took the job as corporate trainer was to move it into an online format, and because it was so new and unique, there was a lot of very quick adoption. A lot of the employees who had been here a lot longer were a little jealous of all the new hires who got to use the LMS and take advantage of the interactive courses.
Prior to having a learning management system here, it would take anywhere between 2 to 3 years for a new employee to move from our customer care department into a consulting role. But with the LMS, they have learning opportunities at any time, and it has made a huge difference in the amount of time someone needs to move up within the company. Now we have people moving up within 8 to 12 months.
Our CEO saw what the LMS was doing internally, and he wanted to offer that to our customers. So he gave me 90 days to get courses into the LMS to make it a marketable product for our customers. That was a bit of a crunch getting that done, but because TalentLMS is so easy to use, we were able to execute that, and we had something within 90 days for our customers.
