It is getting harder and harder to run a dental practice as a dentist. What TalentLMS has done for our organization has given doctors and hygienists the opportunity to focus on quality care.
42 North Dental is there to allow dentists to do what they do best, provide quality care to patients, and we take care of all the support functions: recruiting, training and development, payroll and facilities. The two things that set 42 North apart is the quality of care we provide our patients. And the second thing is the training and development we offer our staff of 1,600 people.
The three areas where TalentLMS has really helped us. Number one, compliance. The medical and dental industry are filled with compliance related training that doctors and hygienists need to take. Number two, just learning and development. We’ve created a lot of programs to help people with their career development. And finally, onboarding every new hire, because our industry has a fairly high turnover and we are constantly training new hires.
I don’t like to talk about the dark ages, but before I got to 42 North Dental, training happened in little pockets. Each department had their own training material if they had any material at all, none of it was very scalable or shareable. Through TalentLMS, we created a repository of all that training, and as we brought all of our training content together, we created a massive library of quality material to give to everyone in our organization.

Using TalentLMS is really straightforward and easy. The format is really visual, and I can almost use it to build an outline as I’m going and fill in the blanks and supplement and build on top of what I have. So it helps me from that brainstorming all the way to the final build.

One of the programs that we developed early on was a front desk training program. When we started, we did have a roughly 40% turnover rate, and we saw a dramatic reduction in the program when we created through TalentLMS, a blended learning program, for our front half staff. We have had a number of people that went from being a front desk staff, learning content on 42U – TalentLMS – that became practice managers. And over the course of the last three years, we’ve had three people that started as a front desk staff, that became regional managers.
Currently, we have 322 courses on TalentLMS, and the support we’ve received has been phenomenal. They have given 110% to support us to make this job and using this platform so easy.
